Store Settings

The Store Settings page of the dotAdmin system controls what happens at the payment stage of the order process. This page is available from the Site Configuration System menu.

The Store Settings interface.
The Store Settings Interface.

The first setting on this page is the Store Operating Mode, which has three options: Test, Live and Suspended. Test mode is used during development of the online store, to allow testing of the payment system without any actual transactions taking place. Live mode is the normal operating mode, allowing the store to accept online credit card payments.

If your dotAdmin site is not using the Online Store functionality, the store should be set to Suspended mode.. Suspended mode also acts as a shut-off feature. If for any reason you want to stop the store from trading, switch the site into Suspended mode and your Shopping Cart and Checkout will stop taking orders and instead display a message to say the Store is not currently available.

Payment Method and PSP Settings

Important! If you change your Payment Method setting, any settings you had stored for your previous PSP will be lost.

To the right of the Operating Mode setting is the Payment Method setting. From here you can select a Payment Service Provider to take credit card payments for orders made through your store.

Changing the Payment Method setting changes the appearance of the Store Settings page to display settings which are specific to your choice of Payment Service Provider. For Example: In the example above, settings specific to using WorldPay are displayed in a grey-bordered box. If you are using a different PSP, you may see different settings to those shown above.

Note: If you wish to use the services of a particular PSP but they are not listed in the Payment Method options list, please contact us to discuss integration of their services with your store.

Order Email Settings

Upon receipt of a successful order, the dotAdmin system can send a confirmation email to the customer, and also a notification email to the merchant.

To send a plain-text email receipt to the customer, check the “Email Receipt to Customer?” checkbox and provide a subject line for the email in the Subject field.

The Email To Merchant setting has three options: Notify Me sends a brief email to the merchant to say that an order has been received. Send Order Details includes the contents of the order in the email, and is similar to the receipt the customer receives. If you don't want to receive emails from the website each time an order is taken, select the Do Not Mail Me option.

Weights and Measurements

In this section of the store settings, you can provide a basic unit of measurement and weight to associate with products in your store. These settings default to centimetres and kilograms. This is useful is you are calculating shipping costs based on these measurements.
