DotAdmin User Guide
Shipping Settings
The dotAdmin Online Store uses a system of world destinations, organised into groupings called “Shipping Zones” to calculate shipping charges for a customer's order.
The interface used for setting up Shipping Zones is quite complex, but easy to use once understood. The Shipping Zones Editor is accessed through the Site Configuration System menu.
 The Shipping Zones Editor.
Each Shipping Zone is represented by a green button to the right of the editor settings, as shown in the example above. If you are editing an existing zone, its button turns white and cannot be clicked. In the example above, the United Kingdom zone is being edited.
Creating a new Shipping Zone is done in three stages. First, choose the general settings shown in the image above, then add a number of shipping bands to govern how costs are determined, and finally decide which world destinations should belong to this zone.
Each of these stages is covered in detail in the three pages within this section; Creating a New Shipping Zone, Editing Shipping Tables, and Editing Destinations.
The “Rest Of The World” Zone
Note that there are five zones set up by default in your dotAdmin installation, and they are completely editable save for one exception; the “Rest Of The World” zone cannot be deleted.
This zone is special because it provides storage for any destinations which haven't been assigned to another Zone (see “Editing Destinations” for more about destinations.). We recommend leaving this zone set to “disabled”, and moving any destinations you intend to ship to into other zones.
Note: If you delete a Shipping Zone which contains destinations, those destinations will be returned to the Rest Of The World zone.
