DotAdmin User Guide
Uploads
 The Media Zone.
The Uploads zone in the CMS is used to store all the supplemental files used throughout your website. This includes images used in your pages and product descriptions, graphics used in your page templates, and also files made available for your users to download such as PDF and MS Word documents, video and audio files, and so on.
 Uploads Child Zones.
The Uploads zone is divided into three child zones, each with its own specific purpose:
Media
- This zone will contain all graphics and other media which will appear in the content of your web pages, save for any “protected” files - see below.
Protected Downloads
- This zone will contain any graphics and other media which should only be available to privileged users of your website. Files in this zone may also be associated with products and access to them sold via the online store.
Template Media
- Any graphics used in the design of your page templates should be placed in this zone.
Each of these Child Zones can contain other zones. If your website contains a large number of images and other supplemental files, you may want to divide your Media zone into multiple child zones to make it easier to organise your files.
Uploading a New File
 The File Upload Form.
To upload a file from your computer to the Media zone in the CMS, click the Upload icon in the Zone Actions list. You will be taken to the “Upload Media” form shown above. Click “browse” to navigate to the file you wish to upload from your computer, and click the “Upload” button to send the file to the CMS. If your file's name is already in use by another file in the Media zone, it will be renamed to avoid over-writing the existing file. (For example: ‘factory.jpg’ might be automatically renamed ‘factory1.jpg’ if the name ‘factory.jpg’ was already in use by another media file).
Your file will now appear in the list of files at the bottom of the page, and will become available for use in your pages and product descriptions.
Uploading a Replacement for a File
To replace an existing file, first find the file you want to replace in the file list. If you have a lot of files, you may want to use the “Find” search filter to reduce the number of files which appear in the list, or change the sort order of the list to bring the file you're looking for closer to the start of the listing.
Having found the file, click this file's upload icon and continue as if you were uploading a new file. The existing file will be over-written.
Deleting a File
To delete a file from an Uploads folder, navigate to the file you wish to remove using the same method you would for uploading a replacement, then click the file's Delete icon. You will be warned if this file is currently in use on any pages in your website.
