Editing a Zone

The Edit Zone icon
The “Edit Zone” icon.

To edit an existing zone, click the “Edit Zone” The Edit Zone icon icon which is highlighted in the image shown above. Editing an existing zone uses exactly the same interface as creating a new zone, but any changes to existing zones should be made with caution.

If you move an existing zone to another location within the zone tree, some of your authors who are supposed to edit this zone's content may no longer be able to do so (please see the User Management section for more details). The reverse is also true - some authors who are not supposed to edit content in this zone may now find that they can do so. Of course, these effects would be multiplied if this zone contains other zones, as they will also be moved.

If you change a zone's access type, be aware that any zones contained within this zone will also have their access type changed to the same value, because access rights are always inherited. For example: If you change a zone from being a “Public” zone to being a “Members” zone, all zones within this zone (and within those zones, and so on) will also become “Members” zones.

In summary: Always use caution when editing existing zones, especially if your site has a lot of authors who are responsible for specific areas of the site, or visitors with different access rights, and particularly when the zone you intend to edit contains other zones.
