Editing Users: User Privileges

Note: User Privilege settings only apply to Public Users. This page is not available when editing Site Authors.

User Privileges determine which users are permitted to view the contents of any Privileged zones within your website.

The procedure for granting and revoking access to privileged zones is much like that of assigning zones to an Admin Group. All the privileged zones in your website are displayed, and checking the checkbox next to a zone grants access to that content.

If a user has requested access to a Privileged zone, this will be indicated by a second checkbox alongside the relevant zone, labeled “Deny User Request?”, as shown in the example above. Checking this box and saving your changes will inform the user by email that their privilege request was denied, and the prompt will disappear.

Whenever a privileged zone contains other zones, they are also privileged zones. If you grant access to a privileged zone that contains other zones, access is automatically granted to those inner zones.

In the example shown above, the user has been granted access to the “Category Three” zone. This zone contains two other zones, and so the user has also received access to those two zones. The checkboxes for the inner two zones are disabled to demonstrate that access cannot be revoked without revoking access to the “Category Three” zone.

Whenever changes are made to a user's privileges, the user is notified by email.
