DotAdmin User Guide
Editing Users: Affiliate Settings
Note: User Affiliate settings only apply to Public Users and only appears for dotAdmin customers who have the Affiliates system enabled. This page is not available when editing Site Authors.
The dotAdmin affiliates system allows publishers and merchants to offer incentives to websites which send traffic, either by a pay-per-click method or by offering a rate of sales commission, or both.
Affiliates can sign up for accounts by visiting the affiliate registration page on the website, and Site Authors can create and modify affiliate accounts here within the Edit User interface.
Creating an Affiliate Account
If the user being edited does not already have an Affiliate account, you will be prompted to enter a unique affiliate ID on your first visit to the Affiliate Settings page, as shown in the example below.
 Creating an Affiliate account.
To create an affiliate account for this user, enter an affiliate ID in the field provided and click the ‘Create’ button. If the ID you entered is already in use, the system will prompt you to choose a different ID.
If you do not want to assign a specific ID to this user, leave the field blank and click the ‘Create’ button and the User Editor will generate a unique affiliate ID for you.
Note: The affiliate ID will be appended to URLs when visitors arrive at your site. You should not use any ID which would be inappropriate for your visitors to view.
Once an affiliate account is created, the new affiliate ID will be automatically emailed to the user being edited.
Editing Affiliate Rates
Once a user has an affiliate account set up, the Affiliate Settings interface allows admins to set the incentives offered to users on an individual basis. There are four values which can be set, as shown in the image below.
 Affiliate rate settings.
Referral incentives on the per-click scheme offer a flat rate of commission for every visitor referred to the site, whereas sales commission is always a percentage of the customer's total order value.
The two “Parent Rate” settings refer to the rates this affiliate will receive in return for referring other affiliates to the scheme. When these second-tier affiliates send traffic to the site, this user, as their “Parent”, also receives commission at the rates you specify in these fields.
Removing Affiliate Accounts
 Affiliate Settings buttons.
To remove a user from your affiliate scheme, simply click the “Delete Account” button shown in the image above. The user account will still remain; this button only deletes the affiliate account belonging to this user.
