Zones in the CMS

The Content Management System (CMS) is made up of a hierarchy of website “zones” which are represented within the CMS as folder icons. These zones are used in a similar way to the folders of your desktop computer's operating system to organise your website content.

The top-level zones, shown above, each contain specific types of files:

Home
Contains all the page content of your website.
Store
Contains all the products in your store.
Uploads
Contains all the files used in your website. These include graphics used in your page templates, images and multimedia used in your website, and any files available for your visitors to download.
Processes
The files within this zone are special programs which your visitors can interact with. Examples include the Shopping Cart, Search and Feedback Form.
Communications
This zone manages visitor feedback from your contact forms, as well as opt-in mailing lists.
Navs
This zone contains controls for managing the navigational menus which link the pages of your website together. This area is usually managed by a web designer.
Templates
This zone contains the HTML templates used in the design of your website. This area is usually managed by a web designer.
Statistics
This zone displays visitor statistics for each page of your site, and also displays commission data for sales affiliates (if appropriate).

To navigate through the zones which make up your website, click on the “Child Zones” links on the right. The zone you are currently in is always shown at the top of each page, along with a “Breadcrumb Trail” (shown below) of zones which you passed through on your way.

Next to this zone path, you will often see icons like the ones shown above. These icons are links which allow you to create and edit zones and pages (and products, in the case of Store zones). Sometimes, these icons will not be shown. For example; it is not possible to edit or delete the “Home” zone because this zone has a special function, so the Edit and Delete icons will not be displayed.
